Liveaboard Upgraded & Ready

A vessel we know intimately.

Formerly called SV Exodus, we buddy-boated with her previous owners for nearly three years. When it came time for them to sell, we introduced Exodus to her next family, who have sailed her as La Vida Shred since May 2024. We’ve shared anchorages, passages, and thousands of nautical miles alongside her. Incredible memories and an incredibly capable boat!

Shred has all the upgrades and features a liveaboard family wants in a modern cruising catamaran. This isn’t a project boat…she’s a dialed, off-grid platform with total energy independance that starts with the fully upgraded electrical system. She has the sustained comforts of a watermaker, wash machine, and fully electric galley. She has the all weather protection of a newly fitted full cockpit and helm enclosure.

The best boats are the ones that have been actively lived on and continually maintained, and Shred is exactly that. Tons of spares, backups, and redundancies. Shred is conveniently located on a dock one hour from the Savannah, GA Airport and ready to be viewed! Sellers are motivated to find Shred’s next family and will consider all reasonable offers.

Exterior & Deck
The Leopard 48 has earned a reputation as one of the best-balanced cruising catamarans ever built. She combines excellent sailing performance with the spacious accommodations Leopards are known for, making her equally capable of crossing oceans and serving as a comfortable full-time home.

Having sailed thousands of miles alongside this exact boat, we can confidently say she performs. Her long waterline and efficient flared hull design allow her to sail remarkably well for a production cruising catamaran, while the protected helm, expansive cockpit, wide side decks, and signature forward cockpit make moving around the boat comfortable whether underway or at anchor. The forward cockpit is one of Leopard’s most loved features, creating a shaded outdoor lounge with direct access from the salon that’s perfect for enjoying the breeze at anchor or keeping watch underway. The unsung hero of her design is the front door…not just for access to the forward cockpit but for the incredible amount of breeze that comes through to cool the saloon AND the aft cockpit. We’ve been on many Leopards with their signature front door and we always leave saying, “Did you feel how much air was moving through the front door!?”

The full helm and cockpit enclosure (new in 2025) significantly expands the boat’s usable living space, providing excellent protection from sun, rain, wind, and cooler temperatures while underway or at anchor. Whether you’re enjoying your morning coffee, entertaining friends, or making an overnight passage, it’s one of those upgrades you’ll appreciate every single day. This is a boat that truly excels at both passagemaking and liveaboard comfort.

Salon & Galley
The salon aboard Shred feels bright, open, and incredibly functional. Large windows provide excellent visibility while the oversized U-shaped settee creates a natural gathering place for meals, movie nights, or relaxing after a day on the water.

The custom remodeled all-electric galley is one of our favorite features onboard. Beautiful stone countertops, a glass tile backsplash, residential-style pull-down faucet, oversized double sink with drying basin, recently replaced fridges/freezer, induction cooktop, electric oven, and hidden storage beneath the hydraulic lift countertop make this space feel far more like a modern home than a typical boat galley. Cooking with induction also keeps heat out of the cabin while making full use of the boat’s robust solar and lithium electrical system.

Accommodations & Comfort
Shred features the family-ready four-cabin, four-head layout, offering exceptional flexibility whether you’re cruising as a family, hosting guests, or working remotely from the boat. The starboard forward cabin has been thoughtfully reconfigured with a shortened berth to create a multipurpose liveaboard space. It provides convenient access to the Splendide washer, additional storage, room for a Dometic chest-style refrigerator/freezer, and still offers a berth large enough for a child with a built-in couch. The berth can even be extended to approximately 5 feet when needed. It’s a clever use of space that can easily adapt to whatever Shred’s next family needs. Another bonus of Shred’s layout is she has a crew cabin w/mattress in the port forepeak with an access door in the port forward bedroom. This could easily be used for another person or guest quarter.

One thing we especially appreciate is how many separate living spaces Leopard designed into the 48. Between the enormous aft cockpit, spacious salon, shaded forward cockpit, and four private cabins, everyone has a place to gather—or escape for a little quiet time. Three 16,000 BTU Dometic reverse-cycle air conditioning units keep the interior comfortable whether you’re escaping the summer heat or taking the chill off on cooler evenings. When you live aboard full-time, having both multiple living spaces and reliable climate control makes all the difference. Bonus…3 of the cabins already have smart TV’s securely installed!

Engines & Mechanical
One glance at the engines and generator, and you know the story. Both engine rooms are clean, dry, and free of corrosion…the ultimate sign of how well a vessel has been cared for over the years. This is an owner-loved cruising boat, not a neglected vessel with years of deferred maintenance. Oil and filters have been changed every 200 hours (50 hours sooner than Yanmar recommends), and routine service has always been performed proactively rather than reactively.

Another big bonus aboard Shred is her engine and saildrive package. She’s powered by the tried-and-true Yanmar 4JH5E 54HP engines, widely respected throughout the cruising community for their reliability, fuel efficiency, and straightforward maintenance. These engines are known to routinely deliver many thousands of hours when properly maintained, and unlike many newer common-rail engines, they’re mechanically simpler with fewer electronic systems to troubleshoot…something many long-term cruisers appreciate when they’re far from Yanmar support.

One note worth mentioning: the original Yanmar digital engine panels were recently replaced because the start buttons had become inconsistent and the LCD hour displays were becoming difficult to read. Rather than risk losing an accurate record of the engine hours, the owners proactively installed brand-new genuine Yanmar panels. The original engine hours were carefully documented immediately before replacement at 4,521 port and 4,544 starboard hours. The documented hours should be added to the current panel readings to determine the engines’ total operating hours. As of the time of this writing, the displays show zero hours.

Just as importantly, the engines are paired with the upgraded Yanmar SD60 saildrives. The SD60 was designed as the successor to the SD50 and features a redesigned multi-disc clutch along with several internal improvements over the previous generation. For many buyers, the SD60 is considered the more desirable saildrive because it addressed the well-known wear issues associated with the cone clutch on the earlier SD50 design. It’s one less upgrade and high maintenance item for the next owner to think about!

The Northern Lights 9kW generator has approximately 3,700 hours and has been maintained to the same high standards as the engines. Its relatively low hours are a testament to the upgraded electrical system. The combination of solar, lithium, and inverter power dramatically reduces dependence on the generator, transforming it from an essential piece of equipment into a smart layer of redundancy.

Off-Grid Electrical System
This vessel is fully off-grid capable, powered by a top-tier suite of Victron hardware and industry-leading components throughout. She’s equipped with 2160W of solar feeding a powerful 1200Ah lithium battery bank. Occasional shortfalls in solar on cloudy days are quickly made up for using the powerful and reliable Northern Lights 9kW generator.

At the core of the system is a powerful 3kW Xantrex Inverter, giving you seamless power to all onboard systems. The entire boat has been wired to run exclusively off the inverter if desired, including the air conditioning, washer, SeaWater Pro 40GPH watermaker, water heater, induction cooktop, electric oven, and more. For many cruising situations, shore power becomes a convenience rather than a necessity. You’ll notice the genset hours are extremely low for the year as a result of this high producing power plant.

Electronics & Instruments
The Raymarine suite of electronics was completely upgraded in 2022 and includes dual Axiom multifunction displays at the helm for excellent visibility while underway. The current owner likes to have the radar showing on one screen while the charts are running on the other. Whether you’re coastal cruising or planning offshore passages, Shred is equipped with the modern navigation electronics you’d expect on a serious cruising boat. (Full list of instruments in the spec list)

Sails & Rigging
Sailing performance is one of Shred’s standout qualities, and her sail inventory reflects that. The mainsail and genoa were replaced in 2022, all running rigging was renewed in 2024, and a new main halyard was installed in 2025. The current sail inventory is in excellent condition with crisp shape, no noticeable stretch, and no bellies…ready to be enjoyed from day one.

One thing Leopard absolutely got right is the sail handling. All of the primary running rigging is led aft to the helm, allowing you to hoist, reef, trim, and lower sails from one protected location. Whether you’re sailing short-handed or with family aboard, being able to manage the sails without leaving the helm is one of those features you’ll appreciate every time the weather starts to build.

Shred also comes equipped with an Oxley Levante downwind sail, making light-air and downwind passages far more enjoyable while reducing the need to motor. Regarding the standing rigging, the current owner was informed by the previous owner that, when Shred was retired from crewed charter service in 2021, her original standing rigging was replaced using the rigging from a 2017 Leopard 48 that the charter company had removed from service. While this information has not been independently verified, the rigging has performed well throughout the current ownership and presents in good working condition. As with any cruising yacht, we encourage buyers to make their own assessment of the rigging as part of their normal due diligence.

Overall Condition
Shred presents exceptionally well and reflects the care she’s received throughout her life. The hulls, decks, gelcoat, deck hardware, and rigging hardware are all in excellent condition overall. As with any properly used cruising yacht, you’ll find some normal cosmetic signs of ownership, but gelcoat crazing and surface stress cracks are very minimal compared to what we’d expect for this age.

Inside, the cabinetry, flooring, upholstery, and living spaces are all in very good condition and create a bright, clean feel throughout the boat. One of the first things we noticed when stepping aboard was simply how well she presents. She’s a great example of how well these boats can age when they’ve been consistently cared for.

If we were being picky, we’d say the aft cockpit cushions are beginning to show their age and could eventually be replaced to freshen up the cockpit. They remain fully functional with no rips or tears, but they do show some weathering and discoloration from time in the tropical sun. Beyond that, you’ll see that Shred shows just as as she’s presented in the photos…beautiful and incredibly well cared for!

Dinghy & Outboard
Included is a Highfield CL360 RIB with console powered by a Yamaha 25HP outboard…an ideal combination for exploring, provisioning, adventuring, or getting ashore quickly. Recent upgrades include a new propeller, new Racor fuel filter assembly, and custom dinghy chaps.

CRU CO FAVORITE

FEATURES

01

A space for everyone

One of the biggest reasons we love the Leopard 48 is just how many different spaces there are to enjoy. When you live aboard full-time, boats can start to feel very small. Having multiple “zones” where everyone can spread out is one of those things you don’t fully appreciate until you’ve lived it. It’s one of those features that makes this boat feel much larger than 48 feet and makes full-time cruising with family or guests incredibly comfortable.

The aft cockpit is massive, with multiple seating and lounging areas for entertaining or relaxing. Inside, the oversized U-shaped settee with thick, comfortable cushions becomes the natural gathering place for meals, movie nights, or escaping the heat. Up front, the forward cockpit is one of our favorite spots on the boat…it’s shaded, catches the breeze, and is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or unwind with a book. Add in four private cabins, and everyone has a place to retreat when they need a little quiet time.

02

off-Grid & Liveaboard ready

One of our favorite things about Shred is how well she’s equipped for true off-grid cruising. To us, modern cruising means spending your time in beautiful anchorages…not constantly chasing shore power, water, propane refills, or marinas. The more self-sufficient your boat is, the more freedom you have to cruise on your own terms.

With 2,160W of solar, a 1,200Ah lithium battery bank, six Victron MPPT charge controllers, a 3,000W inverter capable of powering the air conditioning, and a 40 GPH SeaWater Pro watermaker, this boat is built to stay comfortably off the grid for extended periods. It’s exactly the kind of setup we’d want if we were setting off to cruise again.

03

Custom electric galley

One of our favorite upgrades on this boat is the beautifully remodeled all-electric galley. Cooking with induction is one of those features that doesn’t get enough credit in the cruising world. It produces far less heat inside the cabin than propane and lets you cook using free solar power while at anchor.

Custom solid surface countertops, a tile backsplash, a large residential-style pull-down faucet, and an oversized basin sink with a dedicated drying basin give the galley a modern residential feel. The spacious layout provides plenty of prep space, while the custom hydraulic lift under the upper counter reveals a huge hidden storage compartment under the electric oven. It’s a galley that’s both beautiful, functional, and enjoyable to cook in.

04

Sailability

One of our favorite things about this boat is her sailing performance. Many buyers are surprised to learn that Leopard 48s sail exceptionally well. Because they’re spacious liveaboard catamarans, they’re often lumped into the “condomaran” category of slow cruising boats…but our experience has been the complete opposite. We sailed thousands of miles buddy-boating with this exact Leopard 48, and she beat our Lagoon 450 on nearly every passage (unless our friends reefed to stay with us!).

The Leopard 48 is both fast and remarkably stable thanks to two key design characteristics: her long waterline and efficient hull shape. A longer waterline increases hull speed potential, while the hulls remain relatively narrow below the waterline to reduce drag. Above the waterline, they flare outward to create the impressive interior volume you’ll find throughout the cabins, heads, and salon. It’s a smart design that delivers both sailing performance and liveaboard comfort without sacrificing either.

The backstory

Vessel history

We believe buyers deserve to know not just the specs of a vessel they are considering, but the life she has lived. You aren’t just buying the vessel, you’re buying her legacy which will become yours to steward into her next adventures.

Like most Leopard 48’s, Shred began her life in professionally managed crewed charter service. As she was phased out of charter service in 2021, she underwent an extensive transition for private ownership. She was professionally repainted, the gelcoat and decks were refreshed, and she was delivered to her new owners in exceptional condition before being imported into the United States with a CBP 7501 on file.

From there, Shred became exactly what so many buyers are looking for…a true family cruising boat. Her first private owners spent the next three years living aboard (then called “Exodus”) and cruising from the Chesapeake Bay to Grenada before returning to Florida, where they passed her on to her next family.

After another successful cruising season, the owners have decided it’s time for Shred to begin her next adventure while they step ashore to focus on their growing business and spend some time exploring North America by RV.

Yacht Broker & Cruising Coaches

Amber and I are the storytellers behind “everyday saturday”, a lifestyle brand that has grown to over 500k people following along as we inspire others to make more moments, more memories, more Saturdays.

As a family of six, we sold everything in 2020, traveled in an RV for a year, then spent four years living aboard our beloved Lagoon 450 catamaran. We sailed thousands of miles, sailed to 21 different countries, and learning firsthand what it actually takes to make boat life work full-time, as a family. I performed my own extensive refit of our Lagoon 450, taking it from factory bare bones to off grid powerhouse with a full electrical and solar upgrade.

I hold my USCG Masters Captain’s License and bring real offshore miles, systems knowledge, fix-it knowledge, and hands-on DIY ownership experience to every client conversation. I understand not just how a boat sails but how to live on it and be a steward of it.  From layout functionality to maintenance realities, from survey red flags to long-term cruising viability, my passion is helping buyers choose the right boat and avoid the wrong ones.

Amber’s role has been just as foundational. I couldn’t have done any of it without her! She knows what it means to transition into this lifestyle (and out of it) as a wife, a mother, and the heart of a floating home. From mastering the galley, to provisioning smartly, to mastering the art of sourdough bread, to homeschooling, to building systems that allow a family to thrive off-grid, she brings a perspective that is often overlooked but absolutely essential. She is especially passionate about helping women and moms step into this life with confidence, realistic expectations, and way less overwhelm.

What began as our own leap into the unknown became something bigger. We created Sailing & Boat Life Training Experiences designed for people who felt exactly the way we did before we started: excited, completely overwhelmed, and unsure where to start. We opened up our boat for these 7 day immersive live-aboard experiences and built a full “boat life curriculum”, teaching everything from sailing to passage planning, weather routing to weather patterns, and more.

We’ve now helped others move from “Is this even possible?” to confidently stepping aboard their own vessel.

The Cruisers Co. was born from that same mission, but with the tools for a sharper focus.
To help buyers find the “RIGHT” boats.
To help sellers present their vessels with integrity and standout quality.
And to guide people through one of the most emotional purchases of their lives, into the most incredible journey of their lives, with real-world experience behind every conversation.

We couldn’t be more excited to do all of this with our incredible friends and fellow cruisers, Will and Cat. We started some of the foundation with everyday saturday. But we knew we needed exactly them to help us take this to the next level. Not just because of their extensive knowledge of sailing and systems across all styles of sailboats, but because of the humans that they are. We share the same values and high ethicals standards for ourselves and the way we do business. We’ve seen them in the wild, constantly posturing in humility, putting others before themselves and never holding tightly to things or money. Through our shared ocean experiences we became friends, have become family, and are now launching something incredibly special as business partners…The Cruisers Company!

Will & Cat Marks

Co-Founders

Yacht Broker & Cruising Coaches

We met in 2011 during a flotilla in the British Virgin Islands. Will was working as a skipper. Cat was on holiday from business school. A week on the water turned into a shared life shaped by sailboats, offshore passages, tropical anchorages, and the cruising community.

In the years since, we have spent five years living aboard and cruising full time, logging tens of thousands of sea miles across multiple boats, including a life changing England to Martinique transatlantic crossing. We have experienced the rhythm of life offshore and offgrid and the practical realities that come with it.

Before starting a family, we gravitated toward fast paced, adventurous cruising on our CS36. Later, we welcomed our daughter aboard our Contest 46 and discovered a different kind of voyage. Raising a child at sea from before she could walk reshaped how we think about boats, safety, comfort, and what truly matters in a cruising design. The years spent cruising together as a family are undoubtedly some of the most meaningful of our lives.

Will holds a USCG 100 Ton Master license and spent several years in his early twenties as an IYT sailing instructor, leading liveaboard trips throughout the Caribbean. Those years of professional instruction and skippering, combined with thousands of offshore miles, give him a practical understanding of seamanship, decision making under pressure, and what different crews truly need from their boats.

Will’s career, when not cutting out to cruise or work as a skipper, was in mapping and navigation systems for autonomous vehicles, primarily in project management roles. He also has a deep technical foundation in sailboat systems, maintenance, and refit work. Prior to our last extended cruise, he performed a comprehensive refit of our Contest 46, gaining firsthand knowledge of the costs, tradeoffs, and standards that separate a good boat from a great one. That experience shapes how we evaluate listings and advise clients on ownership.

Before co founding The Cruisers Company, Cat built her career in public relations, marketing, and management consulting. She brings a sharp eye for positioning, communication, and negotiation, along with a clear understanding of how to guide clients through significant decisions with confidence.

We are deeply committed to the cruising lifestyle and the people who choose it. We believe that taking the leap to go cruising can be one of the most rewarding decisions a person or family can make. Our role is to help others make that leap with clarity, preparation, and the right boat beneath them.
